I noticed that it quits after 15 seconds every time and mine is one of the last versions which you don't have to pay a subscription for which made me wonder. So I thought is something telling it to quit? So I unplugged my ethernet cable and turned off the wifi on my mac and suddenly Acrobat works fine, no quitting!

I know this is not a solution but it seems strange it works OK when NOT connected to the internet, perhaps some of you others could try it. If it works with no internet connection does this mean something or someone is telling it to quit I have also noticed that InDesign is misbehaving, not sure if it is connected but I will be trying it out when disconnected from the internet. Have updated to Don't suppose you have any update links for InDesign Version 8. InDesign updates no longer seem to be publicly available, but you can try asking Adobe.

But updates won't overcome all the problems you get from upgrading your system while trying to freeze your apps. We will see more and more of this. Adobe Support Community. Turn on suggestions. I understand cloud-based application. But to not offer both, cloud based and non-cloud-based applications is just plain dumb. I agree with the general sentiment, but it's important to understand that no version of Acrobat is "cloud-based". They are all local applications, installed fully on your computer.

The only thing that is cloud-based is the licensing of it. Until recently you could activate the "perpetual license" version of Acrobat over the phone, but now it has to be done online. Adobe failed to provide an explanation as to why this change happened. I think they're just trying to cut costs on human phone support and did not realize or care that it can affect quite a lot of people with limited or no internet connection, such as yourself.

What's still not clear is whether the classic version of Acrobat currently Acrobat only requires online access for a single time, to initially activate the license, or does it sometimes "call home" to validate it once more. If the former then you could still use it in your scenario. You just need to activate it on your laptop once where there is internet connection, and then go out to the field where there isn't, and it should still work.

I agree whole heartedly. Whether it's the app or the validation that requires the internet, it doesn't matter if it won't work. I just had the same issue again after Windows updated and I installed Norton. The solution is simple though. Just block Acrobat's access to the internet and ver Depending on how your system is set up, will determine how you do that.

Before Norton, I created the inbound and outbound rules described earlier in this thread. After Norton, I simply went into Norton's settings and clicked the switch to block internet access for Adobe and it's working perfectly again.

And for those who don't understand why I don't just upgrade, I don't like Nitro at all, I have custom scripts I use in ver 11 and I need to be able to work when I don't have internet. So the new versions don't work for me. Adobe Support Community. Turn on suggestions. Auto-suggest helps you quickly narrow down your search results by suggesting possible matches as you type. Anyone able to advise what is going on and how to fix it? Thanks Dean. I had to redo my computer and now all of a sudden i have problen crashing.

If you remade the computer you probably lost the update. There is a bug but Adobe fixed it many years ago. Still, since Windows 10 changes all the time, it will break again one day. Acrobat DC is the current version, on subscription. Acrobat is the current version, on a perpetual license.

I can't recommend that, it could stop working the next time Microsoft mess with Windows. But did you put on the fix we already recommended? It's fixed this problem for many people. Adobe Acrobat X Pro I restarted with Acrobat DC subscription in April as additional installation. Last update Acr DC on May has been successful installed. Both Acr versions are still working. By the way: there is a possibility to repair an Acr installation Desperate last resort. I did install the update and that seems to have cured the problem.

Leave it up to Billy to mess things up. After trying all sorts of other things, the update worked for me. The app stayed open just long enough for me to click the update link. It worked for a while. Never had trouble on the older machine. Thanks to the suggestions in this thread 1 installing the updater; 2 turning off the Internet connection; and finally 3 running in compatibility mode, it is now working again.

Which was the key -- I dont know Move the cache. Close the application, then reopen it and enter your serial key into it. Download and install the Adobe application manager and then run Acrobat.
